• Tonight, Edinburgh… WE IRRITATE YOU.

This image is dead dead small, but don’t let that put you off coming to see us support CHURCHES this evening in old Edinburgh town where The Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit will also have a DJ-off.

Doors at 10:30 PM at the Electric Circus and we’ll be on about midnight if you want to avoid us. Although, given that you want to avoid us, you might turn up at midnight:thirty and go “Haha, we’ve missed those irritant pric…OH NO, THEY’RE JUST STARTING” because if we have nothing else going for us, we do have the fact we’re extremely irritating and that’s just the sort of thing we’d do to irritate you further.

    Please come, but.

  • It’s our last day of filming on God Help The Girl today so, in celebration, we’re posting this picture of the frantic, terrifying moments before the END OF THE WORLD.
We’ve had a pure beezer of a time doing this film and we can’t wait to see all of our scenes cut due to us being terrible. There was a moment where Michael M and Michael Drum had to pretend to be real human guys talking to girls, which has been the most difficult moment of their acting careers so far.
Thanks to everyone in the cast and crew of the film who made us feel dead nice and were patient when we couldn’t say things out of our mouths like real human people.
YOU CAN SEE IT IN 2013!

  • Booking Gigs For Sep/Oct/Nov

    HELLO!

In case you missed it earlier, we’re currently booking gigs for September, October and November. If you’re interested, or know someone daft enough to be interested, in booking four idiots to do some shouting in a room near you, give us an email on us@wearethephysics.com.

We would like to come to ALL OF YOUR PLACES and PLACES WE’VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE, but we are very poor - so we’re having to pick and choose really carefully to slot them around when we can do/what we can afford. However, this means every offer is considered because we want to please everybody and we’re happy to play in bathrooms, ceilings and in space.

If you like inviting guys from bands to your town and then killing them, please don’t get in touch.

  • Applied Robotics Lyrics

This post is for YOU if you like being bored by posts.

We’ve had almost eighteen thousand emails from people asking what the lyrics are to our new single, released on 13th August called Applied Robotics. Well, who are we to disappoint? WE ARE WE ARE THE PHYSICS and disappointment is often a free gift with everything we do. So, without further ado:

There is a shift in pace with new technologies
And I still underestimate the change of disease
Technology’s now the opiate of the masses
And even I am posthuman now that I require glasses
And I’m wondering when it was that I became complex
And when small packets of software started having sex
It takes a little, it takes a lot
It takes a little, it takes a lot
Now we’re always on our knees,
Held at ransom by the keys

And so I tried robotics, I applied robotics
    I tried robotics, applied robotics

There is a shift in pace with new technologies
And I still underestimate the change of disease
It takes a little, it takes a lot
It takes a little, it takes a lot
    Driving strapped in control,
I feel much better now I’m whole
So I tried (so, he tried)
Things are better when we try
So I tried (so, he tried)
Things are better when we try
We are nannied by machines and firewalling keeps us clean
Smiles made brighter by the screen and firewalling keeps us clean

And so we tried robotics, I applied robotics
    I tried robotics, applied robotics

  • Yesterday we shot this new video for Slipknot. Just kidding, of course. It’s your favourite (well, let’s be honest - we’re at least in your top 75) sci-pop punk-splosion band.  Thank you for all the pure nice things you’ve said about the new tracks - we hope you think the whole collection smells like pot pourri when it finally DRAPS later this year when we’re going to punch your appendix in with a new album but, until then, we’re laying low like commandos.
APART FROM THIS - We play for Detour in Edinburgh on 22nd August at midnight supporting CHURCHES at Electric Circus. This is gonny be our last gig in Scotland for a bit, so be sure to get your fight legs in there. MEGA CITY WAN, mate!

  • Applied Robotics

In case you missed it - here’s our BRAND NEW SINGLE - Applied Robotics.

You can listen to it using your ears and stuff here, and it will be released for general consumption on 13th August from your usual audio merchants and stuff.

We’re still shooting a film in Glasgow, but we’re burning the candle at both ends by coming straight from the set to bust out MASSIVE DANCE ANTHEMS tonight in Mono supporting BIS! This is unmissable, unless you miss it, in which case it’s quite missable - but all your pals will be like - “State.”

Tonight’s gig may or may not contain the last EVER performance of the world’s best one-song movie band WOBBLY LEGGED RAT. You have been warned.

  • Today we did some shooting for a film we’re in called God Help The Girl, written and directed by Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian and produced by Barry Mendel who did some of our favouriteses films like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. So, we geeked out today like a suited Spidey fan at a comic convention.

We were pretending we were in a band, just like we pretend to do in real life, except people pretended to like us which they don’t in real life. We played the same three notes over and over again, just like in real life, and people jumped around and cheered, just like they don’t do in real life. Mostly because our singer was the impossibly handsome Pierre who is so handsome he converted us to homosexuality.

Best day. So here’s some photos of Michael M and Michaeldrum getting made less ugly.

WE PLAY IN MONO THIS THURSDAY WITH BIS! COME DOWN!

  • Goran Lyrics

We’s been getting hassled (by two people) to write out the lyrics for Goran Ivanisevic, presumably so people can see what else we’ve mis-pronounced.

    So, here they are:

    I try, I fail
    I fail, I try
    To fail is art
    To art is fail
    I try, I fail

The past speaks volumes, volumes that we’ll never read
It’s safe, safe to say, safe to say we’ll never breed
Self-belief is not something we like to feed
We like to feed, yeah, we like defeat

The past, well, it says less to us
Less than vacuous tongues that lap, lapping safely
Pressing faded marks into global crotches, yeah, global crotches
This transitory stain that disappears again

Wasting hours of my time doing star jumps in the gym
All to have, all to have a body like him
Wasting hours of my time doing star jumps in the gym
All to have, all to have a body like
    Goran Ivanisevic

They try to shape you, twist and contort you
Skeleton keys are much more reliable
Chip, chip away at you, chip, chip away at you
They try to shape you, twist and contort you
Skeleton keys are much more reliable
Chip, chip away at you, chip chip chip away at you
You’re growing tits like Alan Turing

Wasting hours of my time doing star jumps in the gym
All to have, all to have a body like him
Wasting hours of my time doing star jumps in the gym
All to have, all to have a body like
    Goran Ivanisevic

    He tried, he failed
    He failed, he tried

Goran Ivanisevic, it’s time, I think, to make that switch
No masquerade in self-belief, Goran Ivanisevic
Goran Ivansisevic, you tried and failed, iconoclastic!
No masquerade for self-belief, Goran Ivanisevic
